Patricia Kelly Yeo is a Los Angeles-based writer who covers food, health, and wellness. Occasionally, she also reports on science and travel. Her bylines have appeared in the New York Times, the Guardian, Eater, Bon Appétit, Food & Wine, and elsewhere. Previously, Kelly was the Los Angeles food and drink editor at Time Out, where she covered the city's restaurant and bar scene, including writing starred reviews and maintaining over 100 unique SEO guides. While she covers the LA food scene as a freelancer, she also writes biweekly essays, reviews, and guides on her Substack newsletter, Spill the Beans, where she also cooks a different legume recipe every week.
On the literary side, Kelly is actively seeking representation for her first novel, Desire Paths. The dual-perspective Asian American coming-of-age story touches on race, class, religion, politics, and the tech industry. She is a 2025 fiction alumna of PEN America's Emerging Voices Workshop LA. Her creative nonfiction essays have appeared in Joyland, the Sunday Long Read, Catapult, Sine Theta and Man Repeller (RIP).
Kelly is available for editorial, branded content, and copywriting assignments, including ghostwriting. Past clients include Toast, Doordash and Glenfiddich.
